a visit to the chilaw fish market when the boats came in




I went to the Chilaw fish market by the lagoon as the boats were unloading their catch last morning and here are some of the photos.

This is a really good location to have an idea of the species of fish along the Western sea board. The warm ocean currents bring them in late December to April when the Islands monsoon changes. I believe it would be in our national interest to switch to long line fishing like the Maldives where they do not use nylon nets and have a vibrant reef system. A little further north is where the Pearl banks begin. Max
